How does colour contribute to constructing place identity in urban environments?
- What frameworks can help to define colour identity of place?
- Why are multiple perspectives important for defining the colour identity of place?
- How can we use the visual ethnographic approach to enhance the understanding of colour identity?
In order to answer these research questions, this PhD study comprises a practice-led case study inquiry of four representative places in the City of Leicester in the United Kingdom: Belgrave Road, Narborough Road, King Power Stadium, and Highcross. The study aims to combine dynamic aspects of the colourscape with semantic analysis to achieve a fuller understanding of the urban visual context.
