More than 100 people attended the launch of the ‘Named after Nelson’ exhibition at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton, Johannesburg on 25 April 2024
Thanks to funding from the Higher Education Innovation Fund, Loughborough University worked with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) to stage this exhibition. as project partners to stage this exhibition. The project started in late 2023 and has benefitted from input from a dedicated team involving Celeste McKenzie (IIE-Vega School), Alet Pretorius, Fidel Mosupye (Supreme Images Photography) Market Photo Workshop, the Totem Media team (Samantha Horowitz, Amanda Xulu, and Ivornatte Chitambo), Nkululeko Mthembu (Pista Ventures) and Everardt Burger (TUT). The project would not have been possible without the support of the archival research team at the Nelson Mandela Centre for Memory, particularly Razia Saleh, Zandile Myeka, and Ann-Young Maharaj.
